Biography / Life History

Dr. Md. Ashraful Islam graduated (MBBS) from Mymensingh Medical College and completed his surgical training in BSMMU and Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He obtained his MS degree from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD). For further development, he achieved Membership (MRCS) of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, and another from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Afterward, he was awarded his fellowship FRCS from the same college. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

He has long experience and expertise in Cardiac Surgery, especially in the areas of both Beating Heart & Conventional Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), Valve replacement, Valve repair surgery, different Congenital Cardiac Surgeries, Myxoma, Septal Myectomy, VSR, Different Aortic Pathologies, Cardiac Trauma, Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (MICS) and other Thoracic and Vascular diseases as well. He did a special course of cardiac patients with diabetes mellitus.

Dr. Ashraful Islam enriched his career through continuous participation in international seminars. He presented papers in conferences and has a number of both national and international publications to his credit.

He is a member of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, The European Association of Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons, and the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA).
